o ennui of little faith...

the mockery. the insults.
she treats me like a dog.
but nothing hurts as deeply
when she disrespects my blog.

her mockery leaves me hungry:
makes me strive to prove her wrong.
and as the days come and go,
i will try to update all along.

and when the sun has set,
(even though she's an hour behind)
her internet presence will be with me
and will play games with my mind.

and although i don't work like her,
in front of a computer all day.
i'll set some time aside,
so i can type my brains away.

and i may not be as witty,
or as creative with those phrases;
but my life anecdotes are endless;
and rival her own life mazes.

the siren of the blog,
her cries cannot weaken me.
although i must admit still,
i love to read ennui.

life is a cabaret.
i've heard it so many times before...
but only started believing it recently.

well i finished up another one. another theatrical enveavor that is. a show.
a musical to be more specific. even more specific, Cabaret to be exact.

and i have done that show several times before.
i've done many shows several times before.
and i am usually glad when the production is over. i'm ready to move on to another project, or take a break, or....whatever.
with this show...i surprisingly was a little bit sentimental over, what i initially thought was nothing.

i was a "dancer" in this show. (and...well i am everything but a dancer).
i CAN dance...to a certain extent...but i do not define my existence as a dancer.

nevertheless, i was a dancer in this show. and although i did not have a large or meaningful part by any stretch...the comradary that developed among all of the performers in this show...was quite unreal.

i have never been in a show...where i was not surprised why anyone got cast. and felt that everyone had a fair amount of talent.
not only that, but i did not find anyone annoying.
AND moreover, i found almost 99% of the cast HILARIOUS. (and i am PICKY when it comes to humour.)

so. i find myself thinking of the many projects that i have ahead of me.
and knowing that i will probably not have the good fortune of working with the same type of people again, and even rarer.
i will never get to work with that exact group of human beings again.

ahhh...theatre.
the art of love.
and heartbreak.

i love a cabaret.

a picture is worth 1,000 words.
or in this case, 106 words may be worth a picture.

so. i finished up another day of camp in lexington, ma.
(and in case you are not the biggest history buff in the world, lexington is infamous for "the shot that was heard around the world.")

anyhoo.
i'm driving towards boston, on route 225E.
and, sure enough...i pass a man.
not just any man either.
a man at a bus stop.
and not just ANY man at a bus stop.
a man at a bus stop wearing a revolutionary war costume.
yes. a revolutionary war costume.
although the color probably wasn't entirely accurate: it was like a bluish-purple.

perhaps it was some sort of mascot.

well, i'm back to bloging:
for now.

a wise friend once said: your blog is never updated. this got me thinking. and she was right. i never update my blog...until today.

it's not that i haven't had much to say, quite the contrary i have. if you need several anecdotes--i have a weekly dosage of new, and exciting events that happen to me. the problem therein lies with my realization of dragging my lazy ass to my computer at the end of the day to recap, instead of watching an episode of the Simpsons that i have seen at least 20 times. yes. 20 times.

so, my goal is to try to be more current with my blogging.
again...the test is set.

oh--i almost forget. funny anecdote for February 18, 2004:

Although it is my "vacation" because the Boston Public Schools have a week long vacation and I technically do not have to teach. i took a job as a theatre counselor at this week long day camp for kids in grades 1 - 5. we're putting on a show!*

*note that the exclamation mark is for sarcastic effect only and does not reflect true excitement for the author.

so...i've been spending what should have been a week without children. with children. which, in itself shouldn't be bad. but there are moments when you just simply want to cry.

here are "breakdown" moments today for the counselors when children would come up to us and say:

1. "You are weird. Your hair is funny. So that means I can hit you."

2. "Do you want to see my Irish step dance? I know how, because well...umm...I didn't really
learn, but I taught myself...and I can do it. Do you want to see, watch? See...my
gra
ndmother is Irish. No, really...she used to live over there for real and everything and
she owned a farm. So...that's why I really wanted to teach my self Irish step dancing. Do
you want to see me? I can Irish step dance!"

3. "What's next? What's next? Then what? What's after that? Then what are we going to do?
Then what? What's next? What's after that then? What then? Then what? What's next?"

4. "I'm the wedgie man."

5. "Does it hurt when I do this to your hand? foot? stomach? arm? head? face? back?"
